6 TIPS TO A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

6 TIPS TO A GOOD NIGHT'S SLEEP

2020 has been a year on all of our minds like none other before. All the feelings of fear and uncertainty have definitely taken their toll on our physical and mental wellbeing. During times like these it can be difficult to get a good night’s sleep. Here at Prae we’re advocates for bedtime rituals to ensure that we feel at ease before we hop into bed, because getting enough good quality sleep is essential for our health and wellbeing. These are the top products that we use each night to help us fall into a deep sleep so we feel rejuvenated and ready to start the day...

1. Herbal Sleep Powder

The Beauty Chef Sleep Inner Beauty Powder is bio-fermented and formulated with all the right herbal ingredients to promote calm and a restful sleep. The lemon balm and passionflower are traditionally used to soothe and calm nerves, and relieve sleeplessness, whilst the hint of sour cherry is naturally rich in sleep-promoting nutrients. We mix a teaspoon of the Sleep Inner Beauty Powder with warm milk and honey before bed.

2. Take a Bath

Once we’ve had our Sleep Inner Beauty Powder, we like to burn some essential oils in our ceramic diffuser (including lavender, cedarwood and ylang ylang) as we have a long, soothing bath. We then add the beautiful Addition Studio Australian Native Soak to our bath for a deeply relaxing and remedial experience.

3. Have a Cup of Serenity

After you’re feeling all warm and zen after your long bath, brew a pot of Serenity by Mayde Tea. This nourishing herbal blend is not only delicious, it’s made with lavender, rose, passionflower and chamomile, which support the nervous and digestive systems, making it the perfect elixir to have before bed.

4. Read Your Favourite Book

As you’re winding down and sipping on your soothing cup of tea, light your favourite candle (ours is Incense by AYU) and grab a book to read. It can be tempting to sit on your phone and scroll through Instagram, but it’s much better for you to read instead, as our phones emit blue light which is harmful to our eyes and restrains the production of melatonin, the hormone that controls sleep. This makes it more difficult to fall asleep and wake up the next day.

5. Wear an Eye Mask

Now that we’re feeling sleepy and calm, it’s time to hop into bed. One of the bedtime rituals that we swear by is wearing an eye mask. The scented, all-natural eye pad from Addition Studio is our favourite as the soft pillows are filled with lavender flower and essential oil, along with chamomile and adzuki beans, plus it blocks out the light and helps you have a deeper sleep with less interruption.

6. Our Founder’s Sleep Secret:

I always put a drop of lavender essential oil on my pillow before bed, and on the soles of my feet which I then massage in. The pores of your feet are super absorbent which helps the oils enter your bloodstream quicker. I find that these two simple rituals make me feel really relaxed and help me fall asleep faster.
