We all know the feeling of finishing a day of work when you haven’t accomplished everything on your list. When it comes to being productive at work, it all starts with having a routine and planning out your day. Here are our top five tips for increasing productivity at work…

Morning routine

How you start your morning sets up your entire day. We find that it helps to start your day with some form of workout, whether it’s a walk, some yoga, or something more intense if you’re a morning workout person. Then once you’re ready to start work, make your cup of coffee and work through your inbox and small admin tasks, before getting started on your to-do list.

To-do list

Ensure that you’re utilising your to-do list each day. Write down all your tasks, both work related and personal (in separate sections) to put things into perspective and prioritise your tasks. Spend a few minutes at the start of the day choosing your MITs (most important tasks).

Focus on one task at once

Instead of multitasking, just focus on one task at a time. It can be tempting to tackle a few different jobs at once, but you’ll end up being more productive and complete your tasks quicker if you focus on one project at a time.

Take breaks

Not even the most productive people can focus for hours on end. It helps to take small breaks to help you recharge and come up with new ideas. Breaks can be as simple as just stepping away from your computer, to doing a quick, light stretch.

End of day checklist

It’s important to wrap up your day so you can switch off and transition into your personal life, whether that be emptying your inbox, or writing items on your to-do list for the following day.
