With cooler weather just around the corner, there’s no better time to increase your immunity boosting foods to fight off colds and the flu. It’s common to become run-down and sick as temperatures drop and seasons change. Find out what foods you can implement into your diet to help keep your immune system strong and fight infection.




PROBIOTIC RICH FOODS 


Probiotics, often called beneficial bacteria, provide a plethora of health benefits, from reducing depression, to improving your digestive health, to promoting heart health. Probiotic rich foods like yoghurt, sauerkraut and miso are great immunity boosting foods, as they’re full of vitamins and minerals.



HEALTHY FATS


Some of your favourite high-fat foods are also incredibly nutritious and beneficial when it comes to strengthening your immune system. Avocados, which are roughly 80% fat, are one of the best sources of potassium and fiber, which helps with digestion, heart health and weight management. Nuts, including almonds, walnuts and macadamia nuts, are also high in healthy fats, fibre and protein.

Fresh vegetables including broccoli, spinach and red capsicum are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, alongside fruits like citrus, which is high in Vitamin C which is key to fighting infections, as well as kiwi fruit and papaya.
